Meistersaal

Berlin, Germany

The Meistersaal is a historic music hall dating back to the early 1900s. The surrounding neighborhood has transformed over time, yet this building has remained a steady landmark. Its elegant space once hosted events and performances, carrying the atmosphere of a different era.

From concert hall to recording legend

In later years, the Meistersaal was converted into sound studios, known as the “Studio by the wall.” This is where a chapter of modern music history took shape. Artists such as David Bowie recorded “Heroes” here, and Iggy Pop and U2 also worked within these walls, adding to the building’s reputation as a creative hub.

Today, the site still draws attention for its cultural legacy. Guided tours are offered from time to time, giving visitors a chance to explore the rooms where influential albums were made.
